7 Skokie Students Named Merit Semifinalists
Five student from Niles North, one from Niles West and one from Fasman Yeshiva were named National Merit Semifinalists.
Students from Niles North and Niles West High Schools and Fasman Yeshiva High School are among the nation’s National Merit Scholarship semifinalists, putting them among the country’s academic elite, according to a news release from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
The semifinalists from Niles North are Allegra Rosenberg, Nathan Selinger, Ilyas Taraki, Alexander Weiss and Noah G. Zeidman.
The semifinalist from Niles West is Smita D. Jain.
The semifinalist from Fasman Yeshiva High School is Daniel Klovsky.

This group is part of 16,000 students nationwide who scored highest on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test out of approximately 1.5 million people who took the exam. Their scores put them in better than the top one percent of all test takers.
Finalists will be announced in the spring. Approximately 8,000 of the finalists will receive scholarships worth more than $35 million.
