CJHS Wins Regional, Heads to Sectional

Chicagoland Jewish High School routs Ida Crown to advance to Sectional Tournament. Jake Newlander of Skokie continues to do well, scoring 15 points.

The Final Score:        Chicagoland Jewish High School 67, Ida Crown 38 

Tigers’ Star Performer:        Jake Newlander of Skokie scored 15 points.

Other Notable Performances:          Josh Newlander of Skokie and Avdan Halivni of Deerfield chipped in 13 tallies each. 

Who’s Next:   The Tigers head to the Sectional semifinal at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Mooseheart against the winner of today’s Mooseheart-Hinkley Big Rock contest.

The Bottom Line:      CJHS went on a run midway through the second quarter to turn a one-point edge into a 37-21 halftime lead. The Tigers continued to build their advantage the rest of the way. In running its record to 20-2, CJHS won its second Regional basketball title in the school’s 10-year history.
