A Humanist Look at Myth, Symbol, and Art.

Fred Edwords, National Director of the United Coalition of Reason and former editor of The Humanist magazine, speaks May 8th at the Ethical Humanist Society of Chicago, 7574 North Lincoln Ave. in Skokie at 10:30 a.m. His topic is “A Humanist Look at Myth, Symbol, and Art.” Edwords will discuss how symbolic art, and folkloric and literary narratives, can appeal to our visceral, subconscious feelings. He will point out that humanists, who are proud of their rationality and common sense, need to consider how a well-told story can outstrip a didactic lecture or philosophical argument.

All are invited to Coffee Hour after the talk. The Sunday programs are free and open to the public, and childcare is available. For more information, please visit http://www.ethicalhuman.org.
