Former Village Worker Selected as OCC's Director of Business Finance

Bob Nowak taught at Oakton Community College and served as the Village of Skokie's director of fiance since 1991. He is now playing a similar role with the community college in 2012 and beyond.

A Skokie resident was selected as Oakton Community College's vice president of business finance recently. Bob Nowak's name might sound familiar: He served as director of finance for the Village of Skokie from 1991 to December 2012. Prior to that, he was an accountant for several private companies.

“I am very excited about joining the Oakton family,” Nowak said. “Community colleges play an increasingly vital role here in Illinois and across the country, creating a skilled workforce and providing educational opportunities to the broadest possible spectrum.

"Oakton is truly focused on student success, and I’m honored to join the many dedicated professionals who help guide its future," he added.

The Skokie resident also taught at the school in 1990, and earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois and later a master of business from Devry University.

Nowak's duties will include managing Oakton's finances, budget and risk management, among other things. He will also serve as the community college's treasurer.
