Gallery: Niles North and West High Schools' Labs Win Award of Distinction

The Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) honored the Niles Township High School District 219 STEM labs with its top educational architecture accolade.

The Niles Township High School District 219 STEM labs were honored Friday with the Illinois Association of School Boards top educational architecture accolade: an Award of Distinction.

"The D219 STEM labs were one of only two projects in the state to receive the award, which recognizes excellence in the design of educational environments," according to a press release from Legat Architects.

Earlier:

D219 and Legat Architects, who helped design the project, received the award during the 2011 Joint Annual Conference of the IASB, Illinois Association of School Administrators, and Illinois Association of School Business Officials.

“The STEM labs have been a critical factor in attracting more of our students into technological careers,” said D219 Superintendent Dr. Nanciann Gatta in the statement. “They give our teachers the resources and flexibility to equip students with the 21st Century skills they need to succeed in the global workforce.”
