Niles West Principal Kaine Osburn will be leaving District 219 at the end of this school year to become the deputy superintendent of Naperville School District 203. Osburn made the announcement during a Niles West staff meeting on Tuesday.
He begins his new job July 1.
“Leaving Niles West and District 219 is not without great pain,” Osburn said. “I have dedicated the last 14 years of my life to the students, parents, and teachers of Niles West.
“No matter the difficulty, challenge, or triumph, every day has been my honor and privilege to serve here,” he added.
Osburn began working as principal at Niles West in 2007, after serving a year as assistant principal of operations. He taught English at Niles West from 1998 to 2005.
District 203 is the eighth largest school system in Illinois. The K-12 district includes 22 schools and serves more than 17,000 students. As deputy superintendent, Osburn will assist the superintendent with leadership, including internal direction of the assistant superintendents, District 219 said in a press release.

I am sure the salary increase will lessen the pain. Published reports indicate his salary was $189,000 for 2011, and the outgoing District 203 Suoer was about $243,000. He will probably "Start" at alesser figure, nut the increase should dull some of the "great Pain".
You have completely missed the point. ;) Smiling Kaine is off to milk the cow in a different, much nicer neighborhood. Naperville beats the hell out of Skokie or Morton Grove 8 days a week. And remember, mortgage rates are at record lows, so the time is right. Housing prices have been crushed to boot. He need not sell his current home, just rent it until the market finally firms up again. He can dump it then. I am sure it isn't a mud hut. But more importantly, Kaine is still a relatively young man. So that second pension he will start earning come 7/1/2013 will more than alleviate any pain he might be feeling. I don't know how they manage. It's such HARD WORK. And the idea of two pensions totaling probably more than a quarter million dollars a year at 55 is just frightening in this economic environment, eh? Some of these guys actually might work 12 months a year. And my guess is the foreclosure rate in Naperville makes Skokie look like....well with Skokie boasting the highest suburban foreclosure rate in the Chicago market...I'll let you be the judge. Another martyr moves on. So selfless. My guess is the real pain is plopping all your personal crap in boxes and labeling them. The grunts will do the lifting and the loading. See you Kaine. You've done a phenomenal job with the young stoners. Maybe Naperville kids will have less attitude and won't go on a "Cafeteria Strike" because Coq Au Vin is no longer on the menu.
