UPDATE: See Who Won Patch's Athlete of the Week

We had not one, but two Athletes of the Week this time around.

twin sisters Courtney and Jessica Ackerman of New Trier were named the Patch Athletes of the Week. 

The twins doubled up in the distance races at the Class 3A state championships on Saturday. Courtney took second place in the 1600 and was sixth in the 3200 while Jessica was fourth in the 3200 and placed seventh in the 800.

Alisha Barnaby, senior, track and field, Maine West - Barnaby took eighth place in the shot put for the Warriors, the best finish for Maine West at the track and field state championships. Barnaby threw 40 feet, 6.5 inches in Friday’s preliminary round for her best mark.

Keeley Nolan, senior, soccer, Glenbrook South - Nolan had a goal and an assist in the Titans’ 2-0 win over Carmel in the Class 3A Glenbrook South Regional championship. The win gave the Titans 12 victories in a row and Glenbrook South now faces Palatine on Tuesday in the sectional semifinals.

Jason Brown, senior, tennis, Deerfield - Brown qualified for the tennis state championships by winning his sectional singles title. He defeated teammate Toby Ma in the finals, winning the first set, 6-2, before a default in the second set. Brown took third in last year’s state championships. 

Ari Lazar, senior, gymnastics, Niles West - Lazar took fifth on the pommel horse with a score of 8.7 at the second annual Senior All-Star meet at Niles North. Lazar helped the Central Suburban League to a fourth-place finish out of the eight conferences who had participants.
