UPDATE: See Who Won Patch's Athlete of the Week

More than 400 votes were cast in last week's contest, see who won Athlete of the Week.

Ricolcol led Loyola with 17 points in the Ramblers’ overtime loss to Barlett in the Class 4A state championship third-place game. It was the first time Loyola has gotten to the state semifinals since 1998.

She garnered 328 votes, or 78 percent

Lucas Nudelman, junior, boys track and field, Highland Park – Nudelman took first place in the 1600 in a dual meet against Glenbrook North and Northside Prep. The Highland Park junior was also highly involved with organizing the school’s 24-Hour Run, an annual charity event that has raised more than $100,000 in less than 10 years.

Ethan Smith, senior, boys track and field, New Trier – Smith won the shot put event at the 46thMaine East Invitational with a throw of 48 feet-9 ½ inches. Smith’s victory helped New Trier to a team championship, beating out six other area teams in the competition.

John Solari, junior, boys basketball, Maine South – Solari had a team-high 15 points in Maine South’s victory over St. Patrick in the Class 4A St. Patrick Regional championship. Maine South won, 42-30, and advanced to play Niles North in the Class 4A Glenbrook South Sectional semifinals this week.

Lorenzo Dillard, junior, boys basketball, Niles North – Dillard hit the game-winning free throw to give Niles North a 57-56 victory over Glenbrook North in the Class 4A Niles North Regional championship. It is the first time in the school’s history that the boys basketball team has won consecutive regional championships.
