Jacobson led the Spartans to a first-place finish in the Brother Rice Smack Attack. He had 13 kills in the championship game against Lincoln-Way East, a 25-22, 27-25 victory. 

HONORABLE MENTION

Kyle Colletta, junior, baseball, Niles West –Colletta pitched a five-inning complete game against Evanston in an 11-1 win or the Wolves. He allowed only one unearned run and had six strikeouts on the mound. Colletta also went 2 for 2 at bat.   (16)

Nate Wolf, junior, boys volleyball, Maine South – Wolf put down 10 kills and recorded an ace in Maine South’s straight-sets win over Evanston in CSL South action. The Hawks defeated the Wildkits, 25-21, 25-21 last week.

Dylan Timmeney, junior, softball, Highland Park – Timmeney scored the winning run in Highland Park’s first conference victory of the season. The junior outfielder doubled to lead off the seventh inning and then scored on an infield hit to give the Giants a 5-4 win over Deerfield. She also had a stolen base against the Warriors.

Margaret Walker, sophomore, girls soccer, Loyola Academy – Walker scored the only goal in Loyola’s 1-0 victory over Metea Valley in the semifinals of the Pepsi Showdown. She scored 30 seconds into the game and the Ramblers advanced to the championship game of the prestigious tournament for the second consecutive year.
