The nominees for Patch Athlete of the Week, March 26 – April 1:
Brad Margolin, junior, baseball, Glenbrook North – Margolin pitched a complete game and allowed only two hits, but was the tough-luck loser in Glenbrook North’s 2-1 loss to Francis Howell North. The Spartans held the lead into the sixth inning, but committed a handful of errors that gave Francis Howell North late opportunities.

Izzy Bergman, freshman, softball, Evanston – Bergman went 4 for 4 at the plate with 2 runs scored, 2 RBIs and 2 stolen bases in Evanston’s 11-1 win against Taft in five innings. Bergman singled and scored in the first inning and had an RBI double in the fourth inning as well.
Jewell Loyd, senior, girls basketball, Niles West – Loyd participated in the McDonald’s All-American Game, scoring four points, pulling down eight rebounds and recording three steals in 23 minutes. Loyd’s West squad fell, 79-78, to the East while playing in the United Center.

Xander Horwitz, junior, baseball, Deerfield – Horwitz was one of the key contributors in helping Deerfield stop a three-game losing streak. Horwitz went 2 for 3 at the plate with 2 doubles and an RBI to help give the Warriors a 6-3 win over Jacobs.
Emily O’Grady, sophomore, girls soccer, Maine South – O’Grady stopped 16 shots in Maine South’s 1-1 tie against Hersey at home. The sophomore keeper allowed a goal early in the first half, but came up big down the stretch.
