Singer Charlene Brooks is getting Skokie's summer off to a start as she performs at the first of 13 Wednesday evenings of entertainment June 5.
There's a lineup of concerts, family fun nights, dancing, movies, classic car shows, food, discounts at restaurants and more, from now through August 28. The events take place every Wednesday at 7 p.m. on the lawn area between the Skokie Public Library and Skokie Village Hall.
Organizers suggest you bring a lawn chair or blanket; part of the area is grassy, and part is paved.
The events are organized by the Skokie Chamber of Commerce, the Independent Merchants of Downtown Skokie, Skokie Public Library, Skokie Park District and Village of Skokie. The lead sponsors are Evanston Subaru and Ecotec Insulation/iBuild, Inc.
