Heading into St. Patrick's Day weekend, the State Police will conduct a roadside safety check on the southbound Tri-State Tollway near the Irving Park Road exit and O'Hare International Airport on Friday and Saturday, the Illinois Toll Highway Authority announced Monday.
The I-294 safety check will take place between 11 p.m. Friday, March 14, and 4 a.m. Saturday, March 15, said Capt. Patrick Kimes."The ISP has zero tolerance for impaired driving in Illinois," reads the tollway authority's statement. "Officers working this detail will be watchful for drivers who are operating vehicles in an unsafe manner, driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license, transporting open alcoholic beverages, or driving under the influence (DUI)."
(Yes, the original headline stated I-249 instead of I-294. Because drinking and typing don't mix, either.)
