"Everyone who knows Dan wonders how he's still alive," writes friend and author of this recent Vice Q&A with the pizza devotee.

Now, his story has been covered by People magazineNew York Daily NewsRedditThe Today Show and The Baltimore Sun.

At 14, for ethical reasons, Dan became a vegetarian and pizza seemed like a natural fit. Dan worked at a Domino's Pizza in college to help support his habit and today, he owns Imperium Woodcraft in Ellicott City where he regularly rides his bike and eats Raisin Bran once a week “to be healthy.”

And when it comes to pizza, he only eats one kind—cheese.  "I hate vegetables,” he told The Today Show.

Dan’s favorite pie to date came more than 10 years ago from a chain called Pontillo's in Rochester, NY. These days, Dan can be found dropping in at Joe Squared in Baltimore after visiting a therapist, who he sees for counseling related to his food aversion. At the behest of his fiancée, Janssen has also begun consultation with a nutritionist.

“I must say, even though I sound like a horribly unhealthy and fat person, I'm not,” he shares in his VICE interview. “I'm thin. I have tons of energy, and I feel great every day, so there might be something to the exclusive pizza diet.”
