Skokie Native Aims to Help Women Around the World

Rebecca Silverman is a finalist in the Intel For Change contest that offers three women the chance to travel to one of three countries and make a difference.

Skokie native Rebecca Silverman, a University of Maryland junior majoring in Global Women’s Health, wants to help fight gender inequality around the world and she needs your help. She is a finalist in the Intel For Change contest, which offers three women the chance to travel to India, Ecuador or Kenya and make a difference, Skokie Review reported.

“Through my studies and travels in the United States and to countries in Europe, Africa and Asia, I’m aware that many millions of women suffer poverty, cruelty and discrimination because of their gender,” Silverman wrote on the contest website. “I believe the key to uplifting the subjugated women of the world is providing them with education.”
