Spraying For Mosquitoes Takes Place 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Also, there's a Skokie village board meeting tonight, and you can meet Skokie police in your local park today through Wednesday, as part of National Night Out. They might even hand out free stuff.

  • If you haven't caught West Nile Virus, or been pestered like crazy by mosquitoes, thank the people who are out spraying with the North Shore Mosquito Abatement District. They'll be out spraying again tonight in the western part of Skokie, from Touhy Avenue to Golf Road (see map). Spraying will take place between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m., weather permitting. They focus 90 percent of their efforts on controlling larvae.
  • Greet Skokie police officers in your local park, from Monday through Wednesday. They might even have some promotional goodies to give to the kids. Here's the schedule and more info. It's part of National Night Out.
  • The Skokie Village Board meets tonight, Monday Aug. 5, at 8 p.m. at village hall. Here's the agenda. The board will consider AT&T U-Verse service in Skokie, the Backlot Bash, and development on various properties in the village.
