More Fun Sunday At Backlot Bash-Here's What To See, Where To Park

There's one more full day of Backlot Bash fun on Sunday. Enjoy this three-day music fest, silent movie show, 5K Run, sidewalk sale, eating spree, carnival, pancake breakfast and all the other things that Backlot Bash is. Check the schedule here.

Fun facts about Backlot Bash: 

  • There are 15 hours of free music over three days, mostly original songs.
  • It's named for the fact silent movies used to be shot, from 1907 to 1915, on a backlot in Skokie (who knew?)
  • The village will shut down Oakton Street from Friday at 10 a.m. through Sunday night. 
  • It's sponsored by the Skokie Park District, Skokie Chamber of Commerce, Independent Merchants of Downtown Skokie (IMODS), and Village of Skokie.

WHERE TO PARK
The event will be held in a closed-off, two-block portion of Oakton Street, between Lincoln and Laramie Avenues adjacent to Skokie Village Hall, 5127 Oakton Street. Most parking lots within two or three blocks of the Backlot Bash will be closed in order to host event attractions.  Oakton Street will be closed from Friday, August 23 at 10 a.m. through Monday, August 26 at 2 a.m.   

Available Parking Handicapped Parking - 5200 Oakton Street.  Enter through the alley from either Lockwood or Laramie Avenues, north of Oakton Street. Handicapped parking also is located in all general parking lots.

Oakton Community College - 7701 Lincoln Avenue, Mulford Avenue Parking Lot

Illinois Science + Technology Park - Parking Garage - 4835 Searle Parkway

Bicycle Parking - Parking for bikes is available throughout the Backlot grounds including at the Skokie Public Library and Skokie Village Hall.
