Plus, stroll the cute shops in Uptown Park Ridge, which are staying open late Friday and offering free cocoa and cookies.

  • How's this for a real Black Friday deal--a bag of books for $3. It's the Morton Grove Library's Black Friday extravaganza. Read on.
  • The Lincolnwood Chamber Orchestra plays a Holiday Pops Concert at Lincolnwood Town Center Mall at 3 p.m. Saturday.
  • Santa's Arrival By Firetruck and Winterfest in Park Ridge take place Friday. Starting at 5:45 p.m., the Maine East Blue Regiment plays holiday music, Santa arrives, the Madrigal Singers sing, Santa enters the library to visit with children individually and hear their gift requests, and merchants throughout Uptown offer cookies, hot chocolate and other treats, and stay open late for Christmas shopping. It's always a really fun event. On Prospect Avenue in Uptown Park Ridge, across from the Pickwick Theater.
