Automotive Body & Tire Center’s botched repair has cost me unnecessary expenses. Here are the facts.
2/4/10 – AB&TC installed a new brake caliper, supplied by me. Labor $121.05
2/15/10 – Brake pads are binding on the caliper. AB&TC diagnose my caliper as defective, and install a new caliper they provided. Additional costs $313.67. AB&TC returned my new caliper to me.
3/23/11 – The caliper AB&TC installed is leaking brake fluid (this is the newest caliper on the car! The other three are all fine). I asked Jennings Chevrolet to install the same caliper AB&TC found as defective. Labor $126.00
7/11/11 – Today – My caliper that AB&TC found as defective, properly installed now, is still working great!
Conclusion - AB&TC improperly installed my caliper, and sold me another unnecessarily.
I stopped by in person to AB&TC to explain this, gave the owner Phil Johnson the chance to do the right thing. He listened and offered nothing. I presented this to him in writing, and he offered no concession whatsoever.
This has cost me $437.67 in unnecessary expenses, is being filed as a complaint to the Better Business Bureau, and is posted here to warn others that Phil Johnson, owner of Automotive Body & Tire Center in Skokie has proven himself to be more focused on his profits than your care as a customer. His prices are high, more like an auto dealer, not the prices you’d expect from a small shop like this, and he will not stand behind his work.
