Skokie Central Traditional Congregation
847-674-4117
The Skokie Central Traditional Congregation began its life as a synagogue in a storefront in 1959. Seven years later, the congregation attended the first services held in the temple's new space in progress. It was a freezing winter day, and there were no windows, but the members of the temple gathered anyway. All these years later, the congregants say, they had no way of knowing they were making history, but their temple is still filled with the joy they felt that first chilly Rosh Hashana.
