Sweety Pies bakery, Cakery and Café is located at 8042 Lincoln. Offering a baked goods along with soups and sandwiches has been a part of downtown Skokie for 5 years and a part of our family traditions for just about as long. From the beginning my son and I would stop for the occasional cupcake as a treat for him. Since they opened they have become regulars at the Skokie Farmers Markets and a fixture at the Wednesdays on the Green Car Shows.
Line them up in alphabetical order and you have the owners and operators of the shop. Arden, Bruce, Chad and Dana Kruger. These are the people behind the counter and behind the scenes. No corporate office, no franchise or company store. What you see is what you get. “Homemade goodness from the Krugers”.
I own a small business and operate from home. I frequently use Sweety Pies as a meeting place. A very comfortable environment, free wi-fi and great treats that will impress anyone. They serve Intelligentsia Coffee and have wide assortment of other drinks from soft drinks to a huge selection of teas to choose from. No client or friend I have ever taken there has left disappointed.
The baked goods are wonderful. A wide variety of homemade, freshly baked treats using quality ingredients and handled with love baked goods tempt me every time I go in.
As one of the pioneers in the re-invented Downtown Skokie they have certainly made a mark. Shop local. Shop the small guys – they will be the ones who remember your name.
