Readers Choice: And the Best Mexican Restaurant is ..

We asked our readers: Who has the best Mexican food in Skokie. See who won here.

Downtown Skokie gets another win as Yolo restaurant was crowned this week's Reader's Choice winner. About 70 people voted and Yolo received 37 votes, or 53 percent. The next runner up was El Tipico Mexican Restaurant, which received 19 votes, or 27 percent.   Located at 5111 Brown St., the small, attractive space is tucked away on a side street just off of Lincoln near downtown Skokie. The dining room is refined yet casual; the tables are topped with cloth but the napkins are paper. Reservations aren't necessary, but you may want to consider them. Readers' Choice: And the Best Mother's Day Brunch is ...

We asked our readers: Where is the best place to take mom for a Mother's Day brunch in Skokie? See the results here.

While almost 30 people voted, it didn't stop our readers from picking Skokie's hottest restaurant, Libertad, as the best place to take mom for a Mother's Day Brunch this weekend.  Libertad received 11 votes, or 39 percent. This week's winner has a bittersweet victory as the best breakfast spot in Skokie.

Breakfast is reportedly the most important meal of the day, so why not get the best pastries, omelets and other sweet or savory dishes in town? This week, we asked you where your favorite breakfast place is. After more than 200 votes, the winner has a bittersweet victory in Pat’s Place. While the iconic downtown diner has been in business for several decades, they’ll be closing up shop come May 26. “I won’t be retiring anytime soon, I’m too young,” said owner Pat Bellos. “But we’re going to party all day come May 26. Readers' Choice: And the Best Sushi is ...

Find out who won this week's readers choice for best sushi restaurant in Skokie!

The restaurant with the best sushi in town was certainly a close one this week. With only 45 total votes, Hana Asian Bistro came out on top, with 30 votes or 66 percent. The runner up and only other nominee was Makisu Sushi Lounge and Grill. "The best part about Hana Asian Bistro may be its prices. There are far better options for Chinese food and sushi in the area if you’re willing to pay a premium, but diners on a budget can head to Hana for solid fare," said our food critic of Hana Asian Bistro. "Located in the Skokie Fashion Square shopping center, the restaurant at 9434 Skokie Blvd. has lovely décor with mellow illumination provided by hanging lamps and lights embedded in wooden pillars," she added.
