UPDATE: Cyclist Killed Following Accident in Skokie
A bicyclist died after a vehicle struck him near the intersection of Main Street and Skokie Boulevard on Thursday evening.
Update 8:48 a.m. 11/10 - The cyclist has been identified as 68-year-old Robert McKenney, of Skokie, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. He was pronounced dead just hours after the accident, the Medical Examiner's Office said. Earlier 8:40 p.m. 11/9 - Police are saying a cyclist was hit by a Volkswagen sedan near Main Street and Skokie Boulevard on Thursday around 7 p.m. The bicyclist, who was said to be in his "30's or 40's," is in critical condition, according to police. He was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston shortly after the accident. Ditto Sarah. Glad you brought it up. It's a "Nightmare on Main St." 90% of the time there aren't any pedestrians around. I go 25 MPH and I'm plagued by tailgaters who border on road rage and for a divided highway this is just a nutty speed limit.
