The National Weather Service issued a storm warning for Tuesday morning. Commuters can expect a snow-sleet combination during morning rush hour, the NWS said.

While it's been a quiet winter in the Chicagoland area thus far, the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter storm watch starting Tuesday morning and running through early Wednesday. The worst part of the snow storm is expected to develop during morning rush hour; producing a snow-sleet combination. At least 3 to 6 inches is expected, according to the NWS. Temperatures will have a high of 35-degrees during the day and a low of 32-degrees, according to Weather.com. The National Weather Service of Chicago issued a winter storm warning this afternoon. Expect four to eight inches of snow.
Skokians might want to park on the even side of the street tonight. The National Weather Service of Chicago (NWSC) has issued a winter storm warning that’s supposed to last through midnight. According to the NWSC, periods of snow will be heavy at times and will continue into the early evening before tapering off. “This will have a large impact on the evening rush,” the NWSC said. The storm warning will remain in effect until midnight and estimated accumulation totals are at four to eight inches of snow, possibly higher, according to the NWSC. The National Weather Forecast Service stated the combination of cold temperatures and wind will produce a below zero forecast on Tuesday, Jan. 22. There is some good news, however.
It’s bitter outside, and the cold snap is expected to continue throughout the week. Wind chill values are forecasted to be negative 17-degrees on Tuesday morning, Jan. 22. Winds are expected to be blowing west at 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph, according to the National Weather Forecast (NWS). There is some good news, however, it is expected to be sunny. Tuesday night should warm up with mostly cloudy weather and wind chill values as low as negative 7-degrees. Wind chills expected to be 20-25 below zero tonight.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory from 6 p.m. this evening to 9 a.m, Jan. 22, for the Chicagoland region, including Lake County. Wind chill values predicted are 20 below to 25 below through Tuesday morning. Very cold air and strong winds will combine to generate low wind chills, according to the National Weather Service. This leads to a risk for frostbite and hypothermia. Frostbite to exposed skin can occur in 30 minutes.
