Niles North and West in the News

You'd better watch out: Students will be caroling all over Skokie and downtown Chicago throughout December. Meanwhile, two teens land an article on the Huffington Post. Check out these D219 briefs here.

  A variety of events are happening at Niles North and Niles West High School this month. Among them, the Niles West Orchestra will be performing live with artist Michael Miles for the premiere of Sundial Suite for Banjo Orchestra. Miles will be performing with the teens this holiday season on  Dec. 13 at Niles West High School at 7:30 p.m. Meanwhile, a Niles North student landed an article on the Huffington Post recently. The story, written by North Star News editor Steffie Drucker was titled, College Applications can be Complicated for Mixed Raced Teens. The article was co-written with Kennedy High School. Gallery: Christmas Tree Lighting at Old Orchard

The mayor, Niles North choir and several television personalities were present for the lighting of the Christmas Tree at Westfield Old Orchard on Dec. 1. Check out our online gallery here.

Westfield Old Orchard Shopping Center held its Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 1, officially kicking off the holiday season. The evening was a family filled affair emceed by WMAQ TV entertainment reporter LeeAnn Trotter with Santa leading the holiday parade and The Niles North Choir, Maine East cheerleaders and even Charlie Brown and Snoopy in tow. Traditional holiday songs were sung by the Porchlight Music Theatre. Trotter officiated the shopping center’s 36 foot tree lighting with Santa, Skokie Mayor George Van Dusen and Westfield Old Orchard General Manager Tim Geiges by her side while thousands of shoppers enjoyed the holiday festivities to officially open the season at Westfield Old Orchard.
