An Evanston man died following a single car crash in Skokie on Friday. The man has been identified as Irving Yaross, 89, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. He was pronounced dead at 11:50 a.m. at St. Francis Hospital. Hanin Goma, of Skokie, allegedly caused an accident that resulted in the death of 8-year-old Carter Vo in Skokie on May 21. The 23-year-old plead not guilty at the Skokie Courthouse on Monday.
Hanin Goma, the 23-year-old Skokie resident that caused a three car crash that resulted in the death of 8-year-old Carter Vo, plead not guilty on Monday at the Skokie Courthouse, the Chicago Tribune reported. Goma is charged with one count of aggravated driving under the influence of drugs resulting in a death. The judge also denied a request to lower Goma's bond on Monday, according to the Tribune. The accident happened on May 21 at the intersection of Main Street and St. Louis Avenue. Goma had just finished her shift working as a cashier at Grecian Kitchen in Skokie. Thousands of commuters were delayed after a Skokie man suffering from a medical condition caused a crash in the middle of the train tracks in Park Ridge, police said on Wednesday.
A 56-year-old Skokie man lost control of his vehicle and crashed into another car in the middle of a set of train tracks in Park Ridge on Tuesday, Park Ridge police said on Wednesday. According to police, the man that allegedly caused the accident was suffering from a medical condition prior to the crash. Thousands of commuters on the Union Pacific Northwest Line were delayed about an hour because the accident halted trains traveling in both directions. However, no trains hit either of the cars involved in the accident, and both drivers were taken to the hospital in what police described as "non-incapacitating" condition, police said.
