Which North Shore Community Has Most Mortgage-Free Homes?

More than 30 percent of Skokie homeowners own their homes outright.

  Communities with a large segment of senior citizens or high median incomes tend to have the highest percentage mortgage-free homes, according to Crain’s Chicago Business.  In Skokie, 34.4 percent or 17,179 of homes are mortgage free, according to Crain’s analysis. Freight Broker Signs Long-Term Lease in Skokie

Command Transportation has leased office space at 5500 W. Howard St.

Command Transportation, a freight broker between businesses that need products shipped and the transportation companies that move those products, has leased 19,000 square feet of office space at 5500 W. Howard St., Skokie, REJournals.com reported.  Paul Loeb, CEO of Command Transportation, says the office’s location fronting the I-94 Expressway makes it an ideal spot because it offers quick access to Chicagoland neighborhoods plus a view of traffic on the highway, REJournal.com reported. Command Transportation is headquartered in Skokie at 7500 Frontage Road, and has other office locations in Houston, Kansas City, Omaha and St. Louis, according to the company’s website.
