Here, the Patch guide to St. Patrick's Day in Skokie, from the best Guinness pours to the most delicious Irish dinners.

Maybe you aren't as Irish as St. Patrick himself (who was kidnapped and sent to Ireland as a slave, escaped in 409 and returned to Ireland in 432, believing he had been called upon to spread the word of God) but on March 17, everyone's a little Irish. So, check out these local St. Patrick's Day events and celebrations. Curragh Irish Pub  The Scene: Traditional Irish food, live music by Joe McShane noon to 6 p.m., Anish at 6:30 p.m. and The Barry Fagan Band at 9 p.m. Two locations: 8266 Lincoln Ave., Skokie and 6705 Northwest Hwy., Chicago. Pizza Wars 3 Was a Delicious Battle For the Ages

So, who won Pizza Wars 3? Was it Lincolnwood's Lou Malnati's? Or maybe Morton Grove-based Pequod's. Maybe, just maybe, a Skokie based business took home the coveted prize.

Pizza Wars 3 was a jam-packed success. The event, which started at 6 p.m. on Thursday, was held at Niles West High School. Within half-an-hour of kicking off, there was a line outside the building and some 800 tickets were already purchased. Hosted by District 219's Education Foundation for Excellence, Pizza Wars has come a long way from its humble beginnings. But who won Pizza Wars 3? More than a dozen restaurants competed - some from as far as Wheeling - but in the end, it was downtown Skokie's very own Village Inn. "After three years, it feels great to finally bring home the 'bacon,'" said Village Inn owner Randy Miles. "It's nice, you know. I feel vindicated after not winning the last two years." Last year, Jet's Pizza brought home the…

D69 Community Hosts Carter Vo Fundraiser

The event is hosted at the Village Inn from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

The Foundation Uniting Neighbors of District 69 (FUND69) has changed its Wednesday fundraiser to honor the death of Madison School student Carter Vo. "After this tragedy occurred a conversation was started that led to people on the foundation board wondering if we could change our fundraiser so it would benefit the [Vo] family." said Keith Shaffer, District 69's director of technology and an adminastrative representative to FUND69. "They wanted to do a memorial and whatever's funding left we'd put it into the account that the PTO is setting up for the family." Organizers quickly changed the flier for the event, which is hosted from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at The Village Inn, and spread the word. Earlier: Skokie Woman Charged in Fatal Crash that …

Readers' Choice: And the Best Bar Food Award in Skokie Goes to ....

This was our closest contest yet. See who won our Readers' Choice award and gets bragging rights for having the best bar food in Skokie!

Wow. That is all we can say. This was by far our closest Readers' Choice yet. In the end, we have to tip our hats to Village Inn. Located at 8050 Lincoln Ave., Village Inn has been serving the community for 22 years, according to co-owner Randy Miles. Some of their dishes include signature thin crust pizza and prime rib. "I'm very happy to be recognized and there's no better recognition than your own customers," Miles told Patch, "People come in for our pizza and it's taken some of my customers 10 to 15 to 20 years to try something other than the pizza—then when they do they get mad at me that I haven't turned them on to something else." Editor's Note: The Reader's Choice poll was left open after 9 a.m. in error. Current results are …

Readers' Choice: Who has the Best Bar Food?

We're not asking who has the best drink specials. Or who makes the best mint mojito. We want to know who serves the best bar food.

Finding a good spot to drink should never be a problem. After all, it’s pretty hard to mess up an order of Coor’s Light. Now, finding a good spot to drink and chow down can be tricky. For this week’s Readers’ Choice, we’re asking which Skokie bar has the best food. Sometimes the best spot only has one good thing on their menu – maybe a burger – but is enough to earn your business. If you really love one of the nominations, click their name below and write a review. Also be sure to check out our full business directory, which includes just about every business in Skokie. Read more: See our other Readers' Choice entries here A few things – The contest starts today and ends 12 p.m., April, Friday the 13th (scary!).  No corporate store will be…
