Man Calls Police After Prostitute Robbed Him

A man called the Skokie Police Department after his prostitute robbed and bit him in Skokie on March 13.

Officers responded to a robbery complaint in the 3300 block of Church Street on March 13 around 7 p.m. The victim: An area man who tried paying a prostitute for her services, police said. According to police, the victim reported that he attempted to pay the offender for prostitution services. During the transaction, an argument ensued – and escalated – causing the offender to bite the victim’s hand. Following the bite, the man retaliated, and punched the suspect, police said. The entire incident occurred after the offender took $50 from the complainant, the report stated. It is unclear if the attack was by the prostitute or by someone known by the prostitute at this time. Cops: Bad Drug Deal Results in Armed Robbery

A man was robbed at gunpoint after meeting someone known to him to purchase drugs in Skokie on Sunday.

Police responded to an aggravated robbery in the 9500 block of Lavergne Avenue on Feb. 24 at 10:45 p.m. According to police, two individuals were meeting up with someone known to them to purchase marijuana. When they arrived at the dealer's residence, however, the offender held the duo up at gunpoint, stealing one of victim's wallet, which contained cash and several credit cards.  The suspect was described as a black male, about 6-feet-tall, 170-pounds, 19 to 24-years-of-age, wearing jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt, black jacket and a scarf that covered his face, police said.  The incident comes ten days after six individuals dressed in all black robbed and attacked a teen in the 4800 block of Elm Street. Hair Salon Bandit Strikes Again, Robs at Gunpoint

Skokie has seen two armed robberies targeting hair salons over the last two weeks. Police believe the same man is responsible for about a dozen similar crimes that took place in Niles, Morton Grove and several other areas.

Two Skokie hair salons have been robbed at gunpoint in two weeks, and police believe one man is responsible for both crimes, they announced today. Officers responded to an armed robbery call at Supercuts, 3539 Dempster St., on Jan. 10 around 12:25 p.m. The suspect entered the hair salon, displayed a black revolver and demanded money, police said. The offender would soon flee in an unknown direction. It is unclear at this time how much money the man stole and no injuries were reported as a result of the incident. Police said the most recent hair salon employee identified the armed robber as the same man who held up Hair Cuttery in Fashion Square Shopping Mall, 9442 Skokie Blvd., on Dec. 27 (pictured above). Number 5: Skokie Patch’s Biggest Stories of 2012

Our fifth biggest story was found in an obscure journal and went viral several days later. The hook: An attorney was disbarred, sent to prison after his ex-wife ratted him out on his extracurricular activities.

Sometimes, some of the biggest stories are small pieces found in obscure places. In this case, the Illinois Lawyer Quarterly reported that Skokie resident Richard Stevens Connors was smuggling Cuban cigars into the country. Connors was found guilty in federal court for conspiring to smuggle Cuban cigars, goods into the United States as well as violating the Trading with the Enemy Act, according to the latest issue of Illinois Lawyer Quarterly. Connors was also disbarred as a result of his actions, the publication stated. According to the New York Law Journal, Connors smuggled "truckloads of Cuban cigars into the country during the 1990s." Total of 29 Teens Issued Citations after Student's Stabbing

A total of 29 disorderly conduct citations were issued to youths involved in an incident where a Niles North teen was stabbed at Emerson Park on Nov. 9.

A total of 29 disorderly conduct citations were issued to youths involved in an incident where a Niles North teen was stabbed at Emerson Park on Nov. 9, police said. The citations are in addition to the felony aggravated battery charge that a 17-year-old Mather High School student a few days following the stabbing. Patch first reported that a 17-year-old Niles North teen was stabbed and hospitalized following a fight in Skokie on Nov. 9. The skirmish involved students from Niles North, Niles West and Mather High School in Chicago. Minors Steal Alcohol - Employee 'Fires' Back

A Skokie man is charged with felony discharge of a firearm after shooting at a group of teens that stole liquor from his family's business on Friday. It marks the third known shooting in Skokie since May.

A Skokie man is facing felony charges after he allegedly shot at several juveniles that stole a bottle of alcohol from his family's business, Dollar House Plus, 4616 Oakton St., on Friday. It marks the third known shooting in Skokie since May 23. Karam Odisho, 27, of the 8000 block of Kolmar Avenue, was charged with felony discharge of a firearm and reckless discharge of a weapon, police said. What began as a petty theft, ended in a shooting after Odisho chased several teens that stole a bottle of vodka from his family's store. After catching up with the group, Odisho fired one shot in the direction of the offenders, according to the police report. Free Pizza Event is Over

A Skokie business is giving away free pizza to anyone that walks through their door today. Just mention "Patch" to get your free slice.

This event is now over. You can read our update here.  Today and today only you can get a free jumbo sized pizza slice (it's big) at De Carlucci's in Skokie, 4010 Main St., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The business is located just off the intersection of Main Street and Crawford Avenue. Owner Rick Santos and his brother recently moved to Skokie from Brooklyn, NY to open their first pizza shop. The thin style crust is crispy, even in the center. Stolen phone A man reported his phone stolen while dinning at a restaurant in the 9400 block of Skokie Boulevard on Feb. 26. According to the report, the man was able to track his phone using an app. The data indicated that the phone was still inside the restaurant, leading him to believe that an employee took it, the report said. No charges were filed and the man never recovered his phone. Life Time Theft A man reported his $300 jacket stolen from his locker while working out at Life Time Fitness, 5330 Old Orchard Road, on Feb. 26.
