Phoenix Rising Chicago Presents "A Broadway Revue:Musical, Dance, and Burlesque performances of original Broadway songs

Skokie, IL- Phoenix Rising Chicago presents a cabaret-style evening of classic and contemporary show tunes with A Broadway Revue. From the lively Wild Party and comedic Mame to the sexually charged Cabaret and dazzling Chicago, audiences will be treated to a journey through fifty years of Broadway history with shows from the 1960s to today.  

Performances are Friday, September 27 at 9pm and Saturday, September 28 at 7pm at Gorilla Tango's Skokie Theatre (7924 Lincoln Avenue, Skokie, IL 60077.  Tickets are $15 General Admission and are available for purchase at www.gorillatango.com or by calling 847-677-7761.
 
A Broadway Revue features musical, dance, and burlesque performances of original Broadway songs with musical direction by Phoenix Rising Executive Director Andrew Hodson and choreography by Hodson and Phoenix Rising Artistic Director Amy Russell.  Hodson will present “Wild, Wild, Party”, a lively, full-ensemble tongue-in-cheek bible lesson taking place during an orgy, from the musical Wild Party.  Russell will present “When You’re Good To Mama”, a saucy, all-female burlesque rendition of the classic Chicago song performed by Russell, Phoenix Rising member Boobs Radley, and guest artist Diva La Vida.  Additional performances include the lullaby “Your Daddy’s Son” from Ragtime performed by guest artist Samantha Elliot, duets of “Ladies Who Lunch” from Company and “Bosom Buddies” from Mame by Russell and Radley, an ensemble performance of “Mein Herr” from Cabaret by Hodson, and many more.

Please note, while this is an all-ages show, those under 18 should be accompanied by a parent due to some adult content and nudity. There will also be beverages (alcoholic & non) available for purchase.  For more information on A Broadway Revue please visit www.phoenixrisingchicago.com.

Your Daddy’s Son, from “Ragtime” (Broadway 1998), Sarah sings a lullaby to her newborn son, directed by Andrew Hodson

When You’re Good to Mama, from “Chicago” (Broadway 1975), Matron “Mama” Morton informs her inmates, at the Cook County Jail, of her system of mutual aid, choreographed by Amy Russell

Mein Herr, from “Cabaret” (Broadway 1966), Sally sings her last number at the Kit Kat Club with the full ensemble, choreographed by Andrew Hodson
You Can Always Count on Me, from “City of Angels” (Broadway 1989), Oolie, the Girl Friday, expresses her loyalty to her boss who is in the LA County Jail, by Amy Russell 

Superboy and the Invisible Girl from “Next to Normal” (Broadway 2009), Natalie vents her anger to Henry and refuses her mother’s apology, while her mother’s hallucination of her deceased brother taunts her, choreographed by Andrew Hodson

Ladies Who Lunch, from “Company” (Broadway 1970), Joanne raises her glass in a mocking toast of middle aged women, but by the end of the song, realizes she is the worst of them all, arranged by Andrew Hodson
Bosom Buddies, from “Mame” (Broadway 1966), Mame and Vera reflect on their rocky,  but enduring friendship, arranged by Andrew Hodson
Everybody Says Don’t, from “Anyone Can Whistle” (Broadway 1964) Hapgood, a practicing idealist, is tired of crusading, and has decided to retire, arranged by Andrew Hodson

Nowadays/Hot Honey Rag, from “Chicago” (Broadway 1975), Velma and Roxie make their vaudeville debut with the full ensemble, arranged by Andrew Hodson and choreographed by Amy Russell
