Skokie Crime: 2 Cars Broken Into on Same Block, Tequila Stolen

The following arrest information was supplied by the Skokie Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Burglary of a Motor Vehicle
Someone entered an unlocked vehicle and ransacked its interior on the 8400 block of Christiana Avenue, at 3:45 a.m. July 12. It is unknown if anything is missing at the time of this report.

In the same block at the same time, someone entered the 2011 Nissan Versa and removed an unknown amount of coins from the vehicle. One of the offenders was described as a black male in his late teens, tall and thin, wearing glasses, a blue long sleeve shirt, and white pants.  The second offender was described as a black male in his teens, tall and thin, and wearing a black hat.

Someone removed a green Freightliner Conventional tractor trailer cab from the rear of a residence on the 7800 block of Lowell Avenue, between July 7 at 8 p.m. and July 8 at 8 a.m.

Possession of Cannabis

During a traffic stop on the 5100 block of Dempster Street, at 1:15 p.m. on July 12, officers arrested Derrick L. Dyer, 41, of Des Plaines, for possession of cannabis, which police said was recovered from the vehicle.

Theft

Someone removed a white, 16” K2 10-speed mountain bike, which was left unsecured at the bike rack, near Bloomingdales at Old Orchard between 8:30 and 9 a.m. July 12.

Retail Theft

Fernando I. Heredia, 22, of Evanston, was arrested on charges of retail theft at Old Orchard July 12. Police say he selected a T-shirt from Macy’s and attempted to leave the store without paying for it.  He was apprehended by store security.

Someone took a bottle of Jose Cuervo Tequila from a grocery store in the 9400 block of Skokie Boulevard at 8:50 p.m. July 12 and exited the store without paying for it.  The offender was described as a black man, 6’1”, 180 lbs., with short black hair, wearing a red Blackhawks T-shirt, dark jeans, and a baseball cap.

Someone stole two packs of cigarettes from a gas station in the 8400 block of Skokie Boulevard at around 1 a.m. July 13.

Criminal Defacement of Property

Someone used a blue marker to write illegible markings on the men’s bathroom door at Hamlin Park at 9:15 p.m. on July 13.

DUI
Thea L. Lazarova, 19, of Chicago, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol on July 13.
