Your Weekend: Lincolnwood Fest Runs Through Sunday Evening

Tribute bands, chicken on a stick, carnival rides, pizza, a classic car show--festivals don't get much better than Lincolnwood Fest, which continues through Sunday at Proesel Park, 6900 N. Lincoln Avenue. Plus, you can buy a purple brick from the purple hotel.

If you have any shrews who need taming, pick up some tips at Muse of Fire Theatre Company's performance of The Taming of the Shrew in Evanston, 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Want your car squeaky clean? The Skokie Police Explorers, Post 300, host their annual car wash fundraiser on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 8350 Laramie Avenue (the old police station), at Main Street and Laramie Avenue. They're asking for a $5 per vehicle donation.

The Skokie Farmer's Market runs from 7:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Sunday in front of the Skokie Library. Vendors say peaches are ready for sale, and the market will have a new vendor selling honey and syrup. Plus, Hillion String Band will play bluegrass music.

David Mamet's Glengarry Glen Ross is being produced at Gorilla Tango Theater, 7924 Lincoln Avenue in Skokie; performances take place Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. And if the show's R-rated language is too much, there's also an afternoon show of the family-friendly Peter Pan.
